3/13/2017

NEW YORK – March 13, 2017 – 100 Women in Finance (“100 Women”), formerly 100 Women in Hedge Funds, today announces NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, as the beneficiary of its U.S. philanthropic activities in 2017, including the 16th Annual Gala at Cipriani 42nd Street to be held on November 8, 2017 and other fundraisers.

100 Women is a global network of professionals in the finance and alternative investment industries working together to empower women at every stage of their careers. Through peer engagement, philanthropic and educational initiatives, 100 Women’s more than 15,000 members are making connections and creating opportunities that help advance careers and strengthen fields. To date, 100 Women has raised more than $40 million (gross) for charitable causes.

Empowering women in finance also means supporting women and families across the world. 100 Women’s galas and fundraising events benefit organizations dedicated to improving lives through mentoring, women’s and family health, and education. 100 Women’s global theme rotates on an annual basis to ensure the greatest impact for local communities. This year's global theme is Women's and Family Health.

NAMI is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness. NAMI provides advocacy, education, support and public awareness so all people can experience resiliency, recovery and wellness.

Elaine Crocker, Global Board Champion for Philanthropy of 100 Women in Finance and President of Moore Capital, said, “Enabling women and their families to have access to all forms of health care has been a long-standing pledge of 100 Women in Finance. Health has many facets, and we are committed to expanding its common understanding to include mental illness through supporting the efforts of organizations such as NAMI. Mental health conditions can affect anyone, yet have always had a stigma attached to them. 100 Women hopes that our support of NAMI’s efforts truly opens minds and hearts to a greater understanding of the impact of mental health on those affected, their family members and the professionals who care for them.”

“NAMI is honored to be selected by 100 Women in Finance as their 2017 U.S. beneficiary,” said Mary Giliberti, CEO of NAMI. “Millions of American families are affected by mental illness and women play a key role in locating appropriate mental health services and supporting family members. This generous support will allow us to transform our services to be more responsive to women’s needs by expanding our online resources and offering in-person seminars for caregivers nationwide. These resources will improve the mental health of families and enhance the well-being of caregivers.”

100 Women is planning a number of fundraising events in locations across the U.S. this year.
