WELCOME TO NAMI KANE COUNTY NORTH,  ILLINOIS!

WHO WE ARE

NAMI Kane County North, Inc. (National Alliance on Mental Illness) is a

grassroots self-help, support, education and advocacy organization

that serves families and individuals who live with mental illness.

MISSION

NAMI Kane County North is dedicated to the welfare of people with mental

illness and their families.  Our primary goals are in the areas of support,

education in mental illness, and advocacy for improved and expanded

mental health services. 

OUR MEMBERSHIP

Our Membership consists of family members, friends, professionals, 

and individuals recovering from mental illness.  To view a list of

MEETINGS

Our general  monthly meetings are held on the 2ND Saturday of each

month (except July) at the Ecker Center, Elgin, 9 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

NAMI Basics

NAMI Basics is a free, 6-week education program for 

parents and family caregivers of children and teens whom are 

experiencing symptoms of a mental illness or whom have already been diagnosed.

NAMI Basics covers:

• Managing crises, solving problems and communicating effectively

• How to take care of yourself and handle stress

• Developing the confidence and stamina 

to support your child with compassion

• Advocating for your child's rights at 

school and in health care settings

• Learning about current treatments, including 

evidence based therapies, medications and side effects

• Gaining an overview of the public mental health care, 

school and juvenile justice systems

• Understanding  the challenges and impact of 

mental health conditions on your entire family
