WELCOME

NAMI Tallahassee is the local affiliate of NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) serving Leon and surrounding counties.  Founded in 1979, NAMI has become the nation’s leading voice on mental illness. NAMI includes over 1,200 affiliates in every state who join together to meet the NAMI mission through support, advocacy, education, and research for people with mental illness, their families and friends.

The affiliate is supportive of local efforts and seeks to publicize information deemed supportive of our mental health community through this website. Without staff or office space, NAMI-Tallahassee continues to serve our community through the efforts of our dedicated volunteers.

NAMI Basics is a free, six-session, peer-directed education program developed specifically for parents and other family caregivers of children and adolescents who have either been diagnosed with a mental illness or who are experiencing symptoms but have not yet been diagnosed. All teachers have received the national NAMI training.  A separate series of the six sessions is available to professional caregivers. Connect to this video link regarding the course.

To register, please complete the online registration form linked here or for more information, email NAMIBasics.Tally@gmail.com. Register early as the class is capped at 20 attendees (each).

Once your application is received, you will be contacted to determine if the course is appropriate for your needs.  Family caregiver classes will meet 6 consecutive weeks for 2 1/2 hours.
