WELCOME

NAMI Tallahassee is the local affiliate of NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) serving Leon and surrounding counties.  Founded in 1979, NAMI has become the nation’s leading voice on mental illness. NAMI includes over 1,200 affiliates in every state who join together to meet the NAMI mission through support, advocacy, education, and research for people with mental illness, their families and friends.

The affiliate is supportive of local efforts and seeks to publicize information deemed supportive of our mental health community through this website. Without staff or office space, NAMI-Tallahassee continues to serve our community through the efforts of our dedicated volunteers.

Monday April 6, 4-5pm
Precision Treatments for Mood Disorders:The Time Has Come for the National Network of Depression Centers - FSU College of Medicine Auditorium, 1115 West Call Street

Dr. John Greden is the Founder and Executive Director of the University of Michigan Comprehensive Depression Center in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He also is the Rachel Upjohn Professor of Psychiatry and Clinical Neurosciences in the Department of Psychiatry, a Research Professor in the Molecular and Behavioral Neuroscience Institute, Past-President of various research societies including the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, and past Chair of Psychiatry at Michigan. Because he also is passionate about the importance of working collaboratively, Dr. Greden led the founding of the National Network of Depression Centers (www.NNDC.org).  The NNDC is a collaborative network of 21 Centers of Excellence throughout America, comparable to the National Network of Cancer Centers.  By sharing and bringing experts together, the NNDC is integrating stronger voices to overcome stigma, conducting research to develop new and safer treatments and preventive strategies, and organizing global education efforts. For additional information, email gorana.knezevic-zec@med.fsu.edu
