Immediate Concerns

1. FAMILY MEMBERS- DEADLINE Monday, June 15 at 4:00 p.m. see below- testimony of support and/or changes in Mental Health services in Delaware County. Written testimony to be sent to Office of Behavioral Health, Attn: Jonna DiStefano, 20 S. 69th St., Upper Darby, PA 19082. If you wish to read aloud, attend Welcome House, 7700 West Chester Pike, Upper Darby, PA 19082 Monday, June 15 at 4:00 p.m. - be clear, precise and to the point.

2. DELAWARE COUNTY MENTAL HEALTH CRISIS COURT- The Mental Health Association of Southeastern PA- The Training & Education Center (TEC) is seeking approximately 3 to 4 DelCo family members who experienced the MH Court with their loved one. These family members will be trained to support families in DelCo MH Crisis Court. Family advocates will be paid a stipend and receive training from TEC. The following qualities are essential for this role: good listener, warm & supportive, respectful of other's unique experiences and helpful. NOTE: If interested in attending the Mental Health Court at Crozer-Chester Medical Center on Tuesday and Friday mornings, please contact MaryCatherine Lowery at (267)507-3865 or

3. Family-to-Family classes will start in the Fall- dates to be announced. You must call to register to attend. Questions and/or registration, call (610) 623-0071,leave your name, address and phone number if you get the message machine. NOTE: the number of seats is limited, call ASAP.

4. A Fall Peer-to-Peer Educational Series is planned- dates to be determined. Contact the Chapter in late July for our next series.

5. Continue to contact local legislators and the Governor's office about your concern with mental health service cuts in Delaware County. Do it singularly, and if a member of NAMI, mention it! HAVE A VOICE!

6. NEWS FROM MENTAL HEALTH ASSOCIATION OF SE PENNSYLVANIA --- We want you to know that you and your participants are invited to attend a FREE CLASS that addresses obtaining and/or maintaining housing. It is called HOME is where the HEART is. It is a 16 week class that starts on FRIDAY, JUNE 26, 2015 at 7200 Chestnut St., Upper Darby, PA 19082. Project SHARE will be hosting the FREE classes on Fridays from 1-3. Light snacks will be provided at each class. Participants who stay for both HOME and Recovery Your Way (on Fridays from 3-3:30-5) will have the opportunity to share in a meal. The KICK OFF PARTY for Home will be this FRIDAY, JUNE 12, 2015 from 1:00 - 3:00. You can enter through the Court Street entrance or call #107CRIF from the front door to get in to the building. This is for any person in recovery wanting to learn new skills to obtain, maintain, and sustain their housing. It will cover topics such as budgeting, finding resources, maintaining your home, finding new housing, etc. You do no need to be enrolled in MHASP services to attend classes.
