                       NAMI ALBANY GEORGIA

Welcome! We are the Albany Georgia affiliate of the National Alliance On Mental Illness (NAMI).  Since 1979, NAMI has been catering to the needs of people with mental illness and their families.  NAMI now has over 1200 affiliates nationwide including 42 affiliates here in Georgia.  If you or any family members have a suspected or confirmed diagnosis of depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, adhd, borderline personality, ocd, ptsd or any similar illnesses, you have come to the right place.

When faced with a mental illness in the family, it can be overwhelming and confusing to everyone; we've been there too.  Everyone in our education and support groups including teachers and facilitators is either a person living with a mental illness or a family member. When you attend any of our groups, you will be with people who can relate to what you are going through. By sharing with each other, we all learn new ways to cope and build our strength and knowledge.

Our affiliate provides an education program for families that is second-to-none.  When this program concludes, we see our participants leave with a binder full of information and a new attitude.  We also offer separate support groups for people with mental illness and their families.  Additionally, we have a "NAMI Night" once a month that is open to the public, which includes an hour of education related to mental health followed by an optional support group for anyone who would like to join us.  For more information click here.

All of our programs are offered free of charge. You don't have to join NAMI to participate, although there are a lot of benefits to joining.  Your membership fee or donation funds NAMI on the national, state and local levels, and allows us to make strides in the fight for those with mental illness and their families.  For more information click here.

We hope you find information and resources here that answer your questions and help you out.  If you have any questions or wish to speak with someone, please email us at or call us at 229-343-8791.
