Wanted: Film and Television Nominations

The U.S. Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is seeking nominations for its annual "Voice Awards," which honor television or film productions that provide dignified, respectful and accurate portrayals of people with mental illness. The deadline for submission is April 22, 2011.

The awards are presented annually to entertainment leaders whose works have helped advance public education about mental health or addiction issues. To be eligible this year, a film or television episode must have been released or broadcast after April 15, 2010.

SAMHSA is putting special emphasis in its awards this year on the experience of trauma and the impact on individuals, families and communities, including healing and recovery.

Is there a favorite television episode or film that you can recall from this past year? Anyone can make a nomination and it's free! There is also no limit to the number of nominations one person can submit.

The 2011 Voice Awards ceremony will take place on Wednesday, August 24, at Paramount Studios in Hollywood. Please consult the Voice Awards for more information.
