Reasonable accommodations for college students: one person's story.
At a growing number of colleges and universities around the United States, students are organizing peer support groups and services for students living with psychiatric disabilities. For many, managing the challenges and demands of college life while learning to manage the challenges of having a mental illness can be overwhelming. There is still discrimination and stigma to overcome. Educators, administrators, and students alike need to know what helps and what doesn't. Most of all, the message of recovery needs to be shared and supported.
Here is one student's experience for your consideration.
We want to acknowledge the University of Washington's amazing array of resources for persons with psychiatric disabilities, and for those resources being publicly available on their website.
