Following the plenary, attendees moved into the annual business meeting, this year themed as "A Celebration of the NAMI Movement." Here, NAMI welcomed its newest board members into office and honored outstanding leadership among the grassroots.

In the evening, NAMI filled the Washington Hilton ballroom for the Closing Banquet. The Outstanding Media Awards were presented to those in the news and creative media whose work in the past year addressed mental health with accuracy, balance, and compassion. Also, Academy Award-winning actress Patty Duke and NAMI leader Ann Pincus were awarded for their outstanding contributions to the NAMI movement.
