NAMI National Day of Action 2014
NAMI's National Day of Action 2014 (formerly NAMI Hill Day) is a national campaign in which we are asking supporters all across the country to stand up for the issues that are important to us. We are asking Congress to take action, pass legislation and support individuals living with mental illness and their families. No one is more effective at delivering this message to the U.S. Congress than individuals and families with lived experience.
We are so glad you will be here to help us amplify NAMIís voice on Capitol Hill by making visits to your Congressional offices.
Join NAMIís policy team for a briefing on legislative issues Wednesday, Sept. 3rd at 8 p.m. and then come be inspired at our Opening Legislative Plenary Thursday, Sept. 4th at 8 a.m. where former U. S. Representative Patrick Kennedy, former U. S. Senator Gordon Smith, and NAMIís own executive director Mary Giliberti will make the rallying call to take NAMIís message to Congress.
NAMIís National Day of Action is not only happening on Capitol Hill―itís happening nationally in the digital space. Be part of the conversation by sharing your National Day of Action experience on Twitter and Facebook. If you tweet please use #Act4MentalHealth―take photos, impressions and be sure to thank your congressional offices by tweeting directly to them.
Visits will be held Thursday from 10 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The NAMI policy team will assist your NAMI State Organization in scheduling and coordinating the meetings with your stateís congressional delegation.
Whether you are coming to Washington D.C. for convention to meet with your congressional offices in-person or are going to be making your voice heard from your local community, this is the opportunity to amplify NAMI's voice to make mental health a priority in the U.S. Capitol!
