Family to Family Education Program
The program is a 12-week course for families of individuals with severe brain disorders (mental illnesses). Trained family members teach the course and all course materials are furnished at no cost to you. The class is free.
The curriculum focuses on schizophrenia, bipolar disorder (manic depression), clinical depression, panic disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). The course discusses the clinical treatment of these illnesses and teaches the knowledge and skills that family members need to cope more effectively.
It informs attendees what local services are available, an explanation of medications, treatments that can be selected, learning about current research on brain disorders, uniting with others to work on their disabilities, and be in a sharing and confidential surrounding. Learning these subjects helps a caretaker to learn to cope and how to better take care of their ill family member.
