“Peer-to-Peer” is a FREE 9-week “experiential” course on recovery for any person with serious mental illness who is interested in establishing and maintaining wellness. It is similar to “Family-to-Family”in that it is based upon the idea that living with serious mental illness is, among many other things, an experience of trauma, and the recovery path occurs in predictable stages. The course is designed to offer an opportunity for growth regardless of individual stage, and the diversity of experience among course participants affords for a lively dynamic that moves the course along. The classes are taught by a team of three trained “mentors”, or peer-teachers, who are themselves experienced at living with mental illness. For more information about the course and where classes are being held, contact the NAMI-CT office at 860-882-0236.
“NAMI-Basics” is a new FREE 6-week program that allows families to connect to one another while learning about mental illness, its impact on children and adolescents, strategies to deal with schools and providers and tools to empower parents/caregivers to overcome new challenges. This program is specifically for parents and other caregivers of children and adolescents with mental illness that have diverse complex needs. For more information about the program and where classes are being held, contact the NAMI-CT office at 860-882-0236 or contact Marisa at 860.299.5705 or firstname.lastname@example.org
