Recovery for All
The NAMI Multicultural Action Center and its GLBT Leaders Group were awarded for their GLBT mental health efforts at the Alternatives 2009 conference held in Omaha, Neb. in October. Alternatives is an annual national mental health conference organized by and for mental health consumers/survivors with support from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration. This conference has a long history of offering premier self-help/recovery information and networking among peer-supporters within the mental health arena. Multicultural Action Center director, Majose Carrasco and coordinator, Marin Swesey were honored to take part in this conference and to be recognized for our work in this venue.
