PLAN programs were developed to meet the needs of families who are actively planning for the future of an adult child with a disability. The mission of these independent, not-for-profit programs is to help families develop a future-care plan, establish the resources for payment, and identify the person(s) or program(s) responsible for carrying out the plan.

Special Needs Alliance State Listing
The Special Needs Alliance is a nationwide network of Elder Law attorneys who assist personal injury attorneys to protect the judgements and the awards of injured persons. Some of these attorneys graciously serve as SNEP state reporters.

National Council on Disability Resources

National Council on Disability's stated purpose is to promote policies, programs, practices, and procedures that guarantee equal opportunity for all individuals with disabilities, regardless of the nature or severity of the disability; and to empower individuals with disabilities to achieve economic self-sufficiency, independent living, and inclusion and integration into all aspects of society.

Maryland Developmental Disabilities Council Planning Handbook  

The Maryland  Developmental Disabilities Council advocates for public policy and supportive  practices and opportunities that promote the full inclusion of all people with  developmental disabilities in community life. They provide an excellent handbook on planning at this site.  Each section can be downloaded in acrobat format.

National Information Center for Children and Youth with Disabilities 
NICHCY compiles disability-related resources in each state. These links will help you locate organizations and agencies within your state that address disability-related issues.

Florida Elder Law web site that provides state specific information and resources throughout the country.
Supplemental Security Income Booklet 

If you want to learn more about the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program. This booklet explains what SSI is, who can get it and how to sign up for SSI.
