Challenge the President’s Veto of Children’s Health Insurance
October 12, 2007
On October 18, the House of Representatives is scheduled to vote on a motion to override President Bush’s veto of legislation renewing and improving the State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP). The vote is expected to be very close. There is already sufficient
- A requirement for private-sector SCHIP plans to cover mental illness at parity with all other medical-surgical benefits.
- Funding to cover an additional 4 million eligible, but as yet unenrolled, children,
- A 6-month moratorium on regulations curbing rehabilitation services funded under Medicaid.
