Erma's Story

I am a survivor of child molestation and rape. I struggled with depression and suicidal thoughts for many years. At the age of 19 I had my first suicidal attempt. I had been battling rage and depression and just couldn't understand. It wasn't until I had divorce from my first husband and had gotten remarried that things took a turn. At the age of 40 I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and major depression. I went into a deep depression at 45 and had a suicidal attempt that things changed. This time I was hospitalized. I started seeing a therapist and was finally told I had Bipolar disorder. This did help some as I was finally able to tell someone what had gone on in my early life. I went back into a deep depression 2 years later and attempted suicide again. It was then I finally got the help I needed. I was put on the correct medications. I still have some bad days but am finally able to seek the help I need.
