NAMI Research Reports

Access to Medications - Power Point presentations given at the NAMI 2001 Convention, reviewing the advantages of atypical antipsychotics, fiscal and policy issues involved in access, and a case example illustrating advocacy for improved access in Texas.

Families on the Brink - Families on the Brink: The Impact of Ignoring Children with Serious Mental Illness was commissioned by the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill (NAMI) to direct attention to the needs of families of children and adolescents with serious mental illnesses. NAMI, the nation's largest organization for families facing serious mental illness, commissioned and helped conduct a national survey of families with children who have such a brain disorder. The results of this survey of families with youngsters with disabling mental disorders show without question the barriers these families face just to obtain basic and necessary medical treatment. As the title rightly states, so many of these families are on the brink of survival.

Schizophrenia PORT Study - Summary of the Schizophrenia Patient Outcomes Research Team (PORT) Treatment Recommendations developed in 1998 by a team of scientists from the Center for Research on Services for Serious Mental Illness (Johns Hopkins University and the University of Maryland), the University of Maryland Center for Mental Health Services Research, and the Maryland Psychiatric Research Center (at the University of Maryland).
