Unmasking Mental Illness

Unmasking Mental Illness Gala

WHAT: NAMI's Fourth Annual "Unmasking Mental Illness" Gala

WHEN: Wednesday, October 15, 2008, 7:30 PM

WHERE: Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium, Washington, D.C.

TICKETS: $300. Call Darcy Taylor at 703-524-7600 to purchase.

NAMI will host its 4th Annual Gala celebration, “Unmasking Mental Illness” on Wednesday, October 15, 2008.

The evening will begin with a cocktail reception, followed by a seated dinner and the presentation of the Mind of America Scientific Research Award to a scientist whose efforts have resulted in ground-breaking research that has significantly contributed to a better understanding and treatment of mental illness.

The evening will be attended by members of Congress, political leaders, and an honor roll of scientists and researchers leading the effort to understand, treat and prevent mental illness. The event will spotlight NAMI’s commitment to promoting research for treatment and, eventually, a cure for mental illness.

Proceeds from the evening will benefit the programs of NAMI, and their dedication to eradicate mental illnesses and to improve the quality of life to all whose lives are affected by these diseases.

If you are unable to attend this year’s gala, you can still show your support, by making a  donation online today  and sitting with NAMI at our "virtual table."  Your name will be prominently displayed online, or if you wish, you may remain anonymous.

Founded in 1979, NAMI today works to achieve equitable services and treatment for more than 15 million Americans living with mental illnesses.

Thousands of volunteers participate in local and state affiliates to provide education and support, combat stigma, support increased funding for research, and advocate for adequate health insurance, housing, rehabilitation, and jobs for people with mental illnesses and their families.

Last year’s event was a huge success— we hope you will join us this year to celebrate NAMI's continued success.

Special guests this year include Terry Bradshaw and entertainer Joyce Cooling.

We look forward to seeing you there!
