Jane Pauley Reveals Her Diagnosis with Bipolar Disorder

Airing on Dateline NBC Wednesday, Jane Pauley talks with Stone Phillips about her public and private life and her diagnosis with bipolar disorder.

Dr. Ken Duckworth, NAMI medical director, has been a consultant to the production team of Dateline NBC and has assisted them with their research in understanding bipolar disorder. He has also given advice to ensure accurate information and messaging has been achieved.

Jane Pauley is one of the most recognizable newswomen in America today and has been with NBC for over 27 years. She was also a correspondent on NBC’s Today Show for 13 years. Her many awards include Broadcaster of the Year from the International Radio and Television Society (1986) and multiple Emmy Awards. She is married to "Doonesbury" cartoonist Garry Trudeau.

Pauley’s autobiographical book, "Skywriting: A Life Out of the Blue", now available in bookstores, covers her three weeks in the hospital for treatment for bipolar disorder as well as her three decades in television.

Her talk show, The Jane Pauley Show, premiered on Monday, August 30.
