Help "Unmask" Mental Illness
Greetings, friend of NAMI,
I am writing to tell you about an opportunity to help NAMI promote research for treatment and, eventually, a cure for mental illness.
This Wednesday, October 17, NAMI will hold its third annual "Unmasking Mental Illness" gala in Washington, D.C. This high-profile event is an opportunity for NAMI to shine the light on mental illness, just blocks from the U.S. Capitol and White House.
The centerpiece of the evening is the presentation of the Mind of America Research Award, being given this year to A. John Rush, M.D. for his lifetime contribution to the study of depression. The event highlights the importance of research in the search for better treatments and a cure.
But most of all, this gala is a party--a celebration of the advances that are being made daily to bring mental illness out of the shadows and into the mainstream of research, medicine, and society.
We hope that you will be there to join us. But if not, we want to give you this special opportunity to be with NAMI in spirit.
Please consider making a donation to join with gala attendees in raising funds and promoting awareness for mental illness research.
Make a special donation online now.
A portion of the proceeds from this year's gala will be designated for NAMI programs that provide essential mental health education, support, and advocacy to veterans return from Afghanistan and Iraq, and their families.
As a special thank-you to you for your support in this effort, your name will be listed among the supporters on the gala Web site later this week (unless you choose to remain anonymous).
Join with the hundreds who will attend the gala on Wednesday, and help NAMI continue to "unmask" mental illness. Make your special tax-deductible donation online now.
