NAMI Fond du Lac/Friendship Corner

NAMI Programs

Click on the Calendar tab for the January Calendar for NAMI Fond du Lac and Friendship Corner.

Friendship Corner will be closed on New Year’s Day.  Notice that many new programs will be starting in January at FC.  We have increased our staff at NAMI Fond du Lac to two part-time positions.  A letter explaining these positions is attached, as well as introduction of Julie Frederick.  Also attached, is the state training schedule for signature programs.  We are seeking people interested in facilitating Peer-to-Peer and Ending the Silence programs.   A brief description is below.  Please contact me at with any questions.  Happy New Year.

NAMI Ending the Silence is an in-school presentation designed to teach high school students about the signs and symptoms of mental illness, how to recognize the early warning signs and the importance of acknowledging those warning signs.  Ending the Silence is a 50-minute presentation, free of cost, led by a team of trained presenters including a young adult living in recovery from mental illness.

NAMI Peer-to-Peer is a unique, recovery education course open to any individual living with a serious mental illness who are interested in establishing and maintaining their wellness and recovery.  This free course consists of 10 two-hour classes designed to encourage growth, healing and recovery among participants. It is taught by a team of two trained "mentors" who are personally experienced at living well with mental illness.

-          Wednesday evenings – Live, Laugh, Love Support Group every Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.  This group provides a safe environment for individuals living with mental illness who want to learn coping skills and strategies. Live, Laugh, Love Support Group will be a peer led focus group entailing recovery topics that impact the lives of individuals with an overall goal of providing support to attendees.

-          Tuesdays, February 3rd – April 21st. - NAMI Family-to-Family is a free 12-week education program for families, close relatives, and friends of individuals with serious mental illness.  Taught by trained NAMI family members, the course provides caregivers with vital information about specific mental illnesses and their treatments, communication and problem-solving techniques, coping mechanisms, and the self-skills needed to deal  with their loved one’s mental illness as well as its impact on the family.  Call 920-979-0512 to register.

-          Thursday, January 15 – NAMI Family Support Group at 6:30 p.m.   This gathering is offered monthly by NAMI affiliates, free of charge, in a confidential and safe setting at Friendship Corner and is run by volunteer facilitators who are also family members living with mental health challenges in their lives.  Group discussion and interaction will be encouraged.
